PostSubject: WW2 Tank Game : Tank Ace   Mon Jan 11, 2010 5:11 pm

Ok Folks.

A very nice game in 3D Tank Based in WW2.

Unfortunately ,they are closing it for like 3 months

I'll keep you informed when the Beta will come back Smile

b/c I can't resume it properly ,I let you the Message left by the GM's.

Sorry for tell you about it (More sorry b/c it's closed Razz) but I just checked and was looking like the Game wasn't working so I checked Forums and I seen it Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I thought at Griefy and Karsten when I played it Smile you can play US or German (atm ,but more should come when it gets back) Main Site : http://tankace.gamescampus.com/

TankAceGM :

I like my catchy headers. They are kind of what I do. Generally you want to inspire thoughts in the person before they begin reading the subject you have prepared for them. In writing too this is very important, you want to prepare with a catchy title, however short, and drive the interest of the reader. Through that interest the reader will begin developing memories of the story and relishing on it. Sometimes though the story has a plot twist, a moment where you are jarred from your seat dazed and confused. Perhaps it is that moment you realize that the writer however creative has terrible grammar (which I apologize for) or it is the moment you realize just what is being lead up to.

Does the hero die? Do they resurrect? Is it all a joke that will end in a dream, a Dues Ex Machina type even where a godlike figure swoops in and repairs it all without care for the readers needs. I personally came in today, after laying on an air mattress that deflates to an uncomfortable state in about 3 hours (nearly on the dot actually fairly consistent), sitting in my chair with eyes baggy and sore. A double dose of naproxen sodium coursing through me to keep the headache that beckoned forth quelled. In came my boss, who I quite literally have nicknamed Captain, who knows how he feels about that, I never really worry about that kind of thing when I give people nicknames.

He sat on the desk next to me and smiled, but it was that smile us nerdy gamers give when we have a bit of news we weren't quite expecting. That smile that says "Hey...did I leave my PS3 on?" He told me, with a bit of a pause, that we will be closing up Tank Ace. This is the moment where you respond shocked, perhaps swing your keyboard about in a rage much like that German kid playing (I believe) Unreal Tournament. If you haven't seen it you should check it out soon, a required viewing for life at this point.

But that twist had a twist. Tank Ace is an incredibly young game, a fetus of sorts, it is growing and forming incredibly complex systems. It is not something that can be ejected prematurely from the womb without damage, it may be subtle but these defects compound upon one another, a small discrepancy in the genetic code leading to a life of terrible pain and anguish. Patton certainly doesn't want that for his Tank Ace baby, and the Developers apparently agree, they are going to polish what they have and help compile and correct all the bugs that have been reported. I've even provided them with all the suggestions that were compiled by you, the players. They will return in 3 months time and have something more developed, a child, if you will. A child that is fully formed and ready to grow.

I'm sure some people will be angry, some people will be sad, some will inexplicably soil themselves and then devise an intricate plot to hide the evidence. I'm very passionate about games and can justify (nearly) all of those responses. But few could argue that it isn't a good idea. Even the most beautiful tower built upon a weak foundation will begin to tilt and require constant attention. This attention diverts away from players and their desires and merely continues on an eternal struggle to keep a problem that could have been avoided from growing uncontrollably until the structure as whole collapses.

So that's it for now. The forums will stay up, the webpage will stay up, the live chat will continue to get spammed, I will still be around to chat about anything (and will add an Off-Topic section perhaps). When Closed Beta comes back (assuming it is closed when it returns) I'll supply people with lots of aces, my best attempts at support, and of course prizes for contests. I do hope that when the game comes back any familiar faces that do leave will come back and any familiar folks who couldn't play before will give it another chance and it'll work.

For now though it looks like I'll be floating around as a GM on a few other of the games here. Biding my time before the next big day when I can drop a bomb, a nice fat one, on the head of an unsuspecting Tank Smile.

I've enjoyed easily 98% of the time I've spent with you all and thank every last one of you for all the help you've given me and the development team. I'll be back on later today to mitigate the fallout of this. I'm still gunning for most active person on the forums. I just might have to change my forum name to make it more cross forum compatible Wink.

tl;dr = Tank Ace is closing, will be back in 3 months, should return with fixes, updates, and a nice solid product. They are rewriting the source code which takes time.

Sincerely,
Tank Ace GM (and CM) Patton
