| First, I would like to apologize for my sudden drop off NF, all forums, and Vent. However, there is a method (rather, an excuse/reason) to my madness (rather, my absence)
(also--title=MW4 joke for those that don't get it)
Three? days ago, there was a normal, uneventful thunderstorm, the kind that hits my area two times a week. But alas, twelve hours after the storm, sporadic power outages struck my neighborhood. Odd, considering it usually happens DURING the storm, and not after it subsides.....but I digress. After the power outage ended, the internet was not working! Heavens, what to do, what to do? This was certainly an uncommon event, but not unheard of.
And so I began the normal procedures of resetting the Comcast box. But, to my horror, no results were achieved. "What the hell? Must've done something wrong...." I proceeded to do it several more times to no avail. I called my genius of a grandfather, and he told me to do the same thing.
I ended up contacting Comcast, and they explained they thought it was an area outage. They had recieved similar reports from other people in the neighborhood. "All right...should be just a day before we have the service back up. Thank you for your call."
Three days later. Comcast was puzzled. Some customers were fine, others, such as myself, continued to recieve no service. Power outages are common in my area due to weather patterns, and this had been no extraordinary storm nor outage. Then came the revelation: a friend of mine plugged his laptop directly into the modem/cable box/whatever it's called that Comcast rents you, he went onto the internet. I was baffled. I still had no internet on my desktop.
After some investigating around, we came to a startling conclusion: people's wireless routers, if they had Comcast, were fried. They continued to look and act as if they were unharmed; wireless devices could connect to the router, but recieved no internet. It was as if the damn things WANTED to fool you.
Ironically, my iPhone was encountering problems with OS4, and just now have I been able to get it the internet fully functional (I was limited to Fanfiction to keep me entertained-- dear God, every one of those authors must have had a similar experience to the one I was. I looked up the ones from the few animes I enjoy. You know how a picture is worth a thousand words? These guys wrote 30,000 words-- and the picture was...well Shit, look the things up yourself and you'll see)
Though I shall be getting a new router, it will have to be setup with all the usual pains.
Therefore I shall be acquiring a quick-fix tomorrow - a forty-foot internet cable! So, assuming(Read: praying) nothing goes wrong with this 'victory', per se, I should be on by tomorrow afternoon.
Again, I am sorry for my unannounced, unanticipated, and extremely untimely disconnection with GoD and NF as a whole.
I hope you accept this apology for missing the scheduled hearing on my status within the Fleet.

| In every wall there shall be typos, I cannot edit, so would someone please fix the glaring grammatical errors and change 'statys' to 'status'?
Thanks, Tedd. |
